5th and 6th class are reading Faraway Home by Marilyn Taylor. Thanks to Carlow Library, they arranged for the very famous author to come and visit our school to talk to the children. The library have lent our school 3 sets of novels, including Faraway Home, which the children are reading and using in class. Marilyn spoke to the children about why she wrote her book and a little bit about growing up during the second world war. The children were given lots of time to ask questions and there were some excellent ones asked. We even have a number of potential authors amongst our classes too with some questions about writing and where to begin.
