Carlow Educate Together NS has opened a school shop for pens, pencils, notebooks and other stationery. The shop opened just in time for Maths Week and children will be able to buy items from the shop every morning this week. The shop is being run by members of 5th and 6th class and it aims to teach children about handling money and calculating change. It also sets up a nice social situation for the children. The final thing is that the shop is run completely through Irish so children (where they can) have to complete their transactions as Gaeilge! So far, the shop is going down very well and will be open everyday this week in the morning. After this week, the shop will open on certain days of the week.
