Three staff from our school traveled to Blackpool in England to visit one of our Comenius partners.  Anschorsholme Primary School is a large (by Irish standards) primary school with over 600 children.  The choir sang us a rendition of Molly Malone at their assembly and we got a personal tour guide to show us around the different classrooms.  We learned loads of great ideas from the tour of the school, which we’re going to incorporate into our own school.  We also had a visit to another primary school in the area that had been rebuilt after a fire.  It was very futuristic with a roof garden, yards on different levels and outdoor  computer games!  The teachers in Blackpool brought us on a tour of the October Illuminations and the Grand Theatre.  We were also treated to traditional English Fish and Chips.  We’re looking forward to welcoming our English and German counterparts to Carlow in March 2012 just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.  In the meantime, we’ll be meeting our colleagues via video-conference in December for a Christmas sing-a-long!
