This week was active week in Carlow Educate Together. Third class started off each morning with exercises in the line with Vicky, we ran laps of the yard and collectively ran over 80 kilometres during the week!

We learned all about why we need muscles and wrote about it during explantation writing. We looked at capacity in maths and had great fun estimating and measuring how much liquid was in a range of containers.

Tá dán nua ar eolas ar na paistí “Sport” agus bhain said a lán taitneamh ag caint faoi caitheamh aimsire a thaitnionn leo sa Gaeilge.

The children also took part in GAA activities, Irish dancing, playball and dodgeball and they really enjoyed the time spent with junior infants during circuits. They all took time to explain the different activities at each station to them. I definitely spotted a few teachers in the making!

The big highlight however was the penalty shoot out against Simon. The children cheered each other on as each child took their penalty against him. Our overall class winner was Gabriel who was given a rapturous round of applause and lifted into the air by his classmates.

A great week was had in Third and a special thanks to Vicky for organising such an array of activities for the children.
