Siobhan Moore – Secretary
Hi I’m Siobhán and I am the secretary for school. I look after the admin for school. I have over 20 (yikes) year’s experience in admin and office work.
Emer Dowling – Junior Infants Teacher
I’ve worked in Carlow Educate Together since 2009. I studied for a Bachelor of Education in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick and graduated with an Honours degree.I have taught senior infants, first class and second class. I have also helped in the writing of the English and Maths school plans as these are areas that I have studied in in college. I have a huge interest in sport especially when Cork or Munster are winning!
Adrian Coffey, Senior Infants Teacher
This is my second year in Carlow Educate Together. My wife and I and our two small children moved from Dublin to Carlow last year. Last year I worked as part of the learning support team. I come to teaching with over 10 years experience in IT / business before re-training as a teacher in 2009. I was involved in drawing up our Learn Together school plan last year and this year I hope to set up a chess club. I love outdoor / adventure travel and I have been lucky enough to raft, hike, climb, ski, and parachute off mountains all over the world. I look forward to the chance to do so again!
Aisling Quinn – 1st and 2nd Class Teacher
When I was a child my favourite hobby was ballet. I danced in many performances in Galway city and county. Last year, I taught Spanish to 4th, 5th and 6th. I was awarded a scholarship from the E.U. to job shadow in a Spanish school for a week. I have an honours Masters and Degree from NUIG. I have an honours H.Dip in Primary Education.
Michael Ryan – 3rd and 4th Class Teacher
I joined the school in September 2010. I have a Honours Degree in Education and Irish from Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. I taught in Tinryland NS before joining the school. I am a post holder in the school with responsibility for media and resource management, green schools co-ordination, Gaeilge and attendance. I have a love of Music and plays the keyboard, piano, guitar and tin whistle. I run a number of music-based after school classes in the school.
Emer Byrden – 5th and 6th Class Teacher
Emer Byrden joined CETNS in January 2011. Emer has spent most of her life engaged in education. The only place she hasn’t taught is in a pre-school! Travelling, languages, reading, music and the arts make her happy. Bad weather and bad manners make her sad.
Claire McInerney – Special Class Teacher
Claire McInerney has a degree in Early Childhood Studies, a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Teaching and a Postgraduate Diploma in Dance. She has taught every class level from Junior Infants to 6th Class in a variety of multiclass settings. She currently teaches six wonderful boys in the A.S.D. class at Carlow Educate Together National School.
Samantha Ryan – Deputy Principal and Resource Teacher
I have been working in CETNS since 2009. I have an Honours Degree in Education and History from Mary Immaculate College, Limerick and I also have an Honours Post-Graduate Diploma in Special Educational Needs. I am the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator in the school and I am currently completing my Masters in Autistic Spectrum Disorders. In the school I run the student’s council, have written our Music Policy, organise training for staff and I am the staff rep for INTO.
Eimear Cody Morrissey – Resource Teacher
I am from Kilkenny. I trained in Coláiste Mhuire Marino in Dublin. After graduating, I taught in Lucan Educate Together N.S. for seven years. I joined the staff of Carlow Educate Together N.S. in 2010. I am a member of the Management Team in our school. My main responsibilities include Behaviour Management and the Learn Together Curriculum. During the 2010/2011 school year, I was involved in writing the Learn Together School Plan.
Clare Coogan – Resource Teacher
I studied teaching in St. Patrick’s college Drumcondra, qualifing in 2005. I worked in Priorswood Dublin for three years before leaving to travel in 2008. While in Australia I taught in east Sydney. I particularly enjoy teaching English and Art. I joined the CETNS staff in Feburary 2011. I am currently part of the Learning Support team.
Erin Doyle – Resource Teacher
I studied in University College Cork where I obtained my degree in Archaeology and English. Then I got my higher diploma in Primary Teaching with Hibernia College in 2010. I play lots of different sports but my favourites are camogie, football and badminton. I love reading all sort of books! I also love history, especially the archaeological bits.
Teresa Aylward – Resource Teacher
I’m from Kiltealy, Co.Wexford. I went to St Patricks College, Drumcondra where I studied Geography and Human Development. Then I went onto study with Hibernia College where I got my HDip in education. I have a huge interest in sport. I play camogie for Duffry Rovers camogie club and tag rugby in Enniscorthy rugby club.
Bessie O’ Toole – Special Needs Assistant
I work in the Special Class as an SNA .This is my third year working in Carlow Educate Together. I have enjoyed working with children with special needs for the past ten years.
Barbara Price – Special Needs Assistant
I have completed FETAC Level 5 – Full Childcare Award – Including a module on The Special Child. I also have Red Cross First Aid – Up to Date – AED trained. – Studio Three Trained (qualification in detail with challanging behaviour). I am trained in ABA and experienced in using T.E.A.C.C.H. methods in a classroom setting. I Worked in Scoil Mhichil Naofa in Athy and I began in Carlow Educate Together in April 2009.
Lisa O’ Sullivan – Special Needs Assistant
My name is Lisa Ryan O Sullivan. I am married and have two children. I have worked as an SNA in Carlow Educate Together since the school opened in 2008. I currently work in the special class for children with ASD. I have a FETAC level 5 in childcare, FETAC level 6 in SNA training, FETAC level 6 in Teaching Assistance and I am qualifed in First Aid. Previous to working in this school I worked in St.Fiacc’s N.S as a full-time SNA.
Sinéad O’Toole, Special Needs Assistant
I am currently working as an SNA in 5th class, 6th class and the ASD unit. I have worked in the school since 2008, I moved from Scoil Mhichíl Naofa (Athy) after 10 years working in mainstream and special education areas. I am a qualified Nursery Nurse and I continue to expand my knowledge base by attending professional development courses. I have a keen interest in Sensory Integration.
Simon Lewis – Principal
Simon Lewis is the principal of Carlow Educate Together NS. He is originally from Dublin and has been living in Carlow since 2003. Simon previously taught in Sacred Heart SNS in Killinarden, Tallaght, Scoil Mhichil Naofa in Athy and Gorey Educate Together. Simon is well known around the country for his views on technology in education and gives talks to teachers, businesses and other agencies around the country. He also enjoys running, tennis and soccer. He doesn’t enjoy supporting Sheffield United but somebody has to!
